I have been asked to install two BVPU's to tie a DK424 and DK40 together. I retired from the telephone industry a few years back and no longer have access to Toshiba FYI. Anyone happen to have the Maintenance Console Software (MCS) required to program these units?

I don't mean to throw cold water on a hot worker, but you are looking at eManager on a PC with XP Pro, R2 and I don't honestly think this is one you can wing by yourself.
I have not heard of anyone networking with BVPUs on a DK40 and 424 but I haven't walked on the moon either so it may be possible but I don't think so.
Doing networking is NOT easy if you don't do it as a habit. Without trying to knock all your years because I have a lot of them too, I would put this in the hands of someone who does networking stuff all the time, not once in a while.
Thanks, Bunnie

Bunnie - Read the original post........DK424 and 40 do not use eManager. A windows 98 PC with the MSC software works just fine. I installed one that connects Lakeland, FL with an office somewhere in LA. Worked great!

Well I was sure and I was wrong. I just looked in the Big 424 manual and sure as there is rain in Florida, there are a couple pages on the BPVU and it does work on the 40 and 424.
I stand corrected and duly chastized and now informed. I most certainly believed that the BPVU worked ONLY in the CTX/CIX (thus eManager) and I was WRONG.
Sorry!

Okay I must be doing something wrong. I know that my com port and PPTC work due to the fact that I can use it for data with the PIOU that is in the system. However, when I plug into the sport on the BVPU and use the MCS software (in RS232 mode), I can't communicate with the card. I have tried all options to get anything. Only responce is "Connection to unit cannot be established" I have tried this with two cards in two systems, always same responce. Any ideas?

I'm too sleeepy to think straight but did you check the manual to be positive that the pinouts are identical? That is all I can think of at this second and I'm am sorry I didn't think you could use the BVPU on the 424/40 but I was so sure.

According to the manual the pin numbering is identical to the PIOU/RSIU/etc/etc. No problem on the doubt as to the IP on a 424. I was just as surprised to see that it supported it.
