Morning, all! I worked for a Teleco dealer for about five years back in the day. While I've essentially gotten out of the CPE business (I'm now in healthcare), I installed and maintain my employer's DK40 and IVP8 VM.
I'm trying to set up SMDI between the two. A TSIU is installed, both ports set to 4800bps, port 1 set to SMDI. Connecting a laptop directly to port 1 shows valid SMDI packets coming out of the switch, with called station numbers being padded to ten digits using leading zeros.
The IVP8 is set for PBX type 1440iS, com 2 is set up for SMDI. Baud is 4800, parameters are E71. I'm using the same cable that I used with the laptop to validate the link.
It doesn't work. Stations calling the VM ports hear the company greeting, not "enter your security code."
Does it look like I missed anything? Any advice would be appreciated.
Peace, JJB

I believe the baud rate needs to be 2400 on the DK 40 and IVP8. Also, did you set the SMDI parameters in the IVP8 system configuration? One last thing is the cable from the TSIU to the PPTC9 in Port 1 of the VM needs to be a certain pin-out. E-mail me and I can give you more info...

Also when you go to the Stratagy system Config screen be sure you put the Ext. # of the first port of voice mail in the SMDI base port
Also be sure your ext #'s run in order if they do not it will not work.
