Thanks to everyone who helped me on setting up this system. Everything is working with one exception...

When I dial 850, the call is forwarded to different extensions, depending on which phone I call it from.

When I receive a voice mail, the MSG led lights, but it dials ext. 200 which is port 000. The readout on the phone says CALL 205-200V.

I am using prg 33 for hunting. All stations point to port 016 which is my first voice mail port, and that seems to be working. I have initialized this prg. and re-programmed.

Any ideas?

p.s. I have already tried to clear the call backs. As soon as an external VM is received, it goes back to calling station 200.

Still reading - and learning...
When I go to *40 to set up a distributed hunt group, it does not work. It does not allow me to enter the hunt group, or any numbers for that matter.

OK, thanks for the kind words but I'm confused.

If you were using a distributed hunt group created in program *40, you would forward calls to 850. If port 016 was your first VM port, and it was extension 216 (normally) your call forward no answer would be:

[Int] # 6 0 3 8 5 0 [speed dial button] 2 0 (20 seconds, could be 8 to 60) [Redial] [Speaker]

By the way have you set your port in program 13?

If it was port 016 (extension 216) then the entry would be [1016].

If you were setting up the vm ports in program 33, then the the 603 entry would be:

[Int] # 6 0 3 2 1 6 [speed dial button] 2 0 (20 seconds, could be 8 to 60) [Redial] [Speaker]

The number following the 603 is 850 if you used program *40 for the vm hunt group and it is the first extension of the hunt group if you used programm 33 to create a voice hunt group.

In a *40 distributed hunt group each port is called in order using all ports equally; in a 33 hunt group, the first port is always called first and if you have low traffic in a small office ports three and four may never get a call.

It is always a good idea to turn off button 4 on all ports that are not voicemail ports so people don't call a station and hit the MSG lite button.

I've been to places where they couldn't get to their voice mail box because each time they hit the MSG button it went to a phone where no one answered and the VM call was burried under bunches of MSG button presses from other users.

[int] # 4 0 9 will clear the message waiting calls.

This should get you up and running 100%.

Correction to above:

It is always a good idea to turn off button 4 in program 35 on all ports that are not voicemail ports so people don't call a station and hit the MSG lite button.

I have everything set up in program 33 now, and everything is working except for the msg button. The only thing that you listed above that I did not do is turning off button 4. I will try that now.

I have realized thought that I really need to do the distributed hunt group for proper call routing. I cannot program anything in *40, it will not let me put anything in when I try to input the hunt group number. Is there some other setting that is preventing me from using the distributed hunt groups?

I turned off led 4 in program 35 - now how do the users know when they have a voice mail?

Some of the older processors did not support the * programs. I think the release 3 was the first release to utilize the * "star" programs. If you can't enter 900 as a group number in program *40 you probably have a processor with older software.

It appears that I can use all the other * programs. I can program data on *04 which defines the hunt group numbers.

In one of your previous posts you stated that the processor was an rctua. If it supports the *40 program the valid hunt group numbers are 900 - 915
I don't know of any reason you would not be able to assign them. Be sure the rctua is a release 3 or better. I think I'm right on this. Maybe a moderator will verify this.
