Hello all, I have a couple questions about the Stratagy 8 port voicemail system in our CTX. When someone calls a mailbox and is listening to their greeting, or leaving a message and someone else calls, the system doesn't play their personal greeting to the second caller.. The system says "That extension is busy, to try another extension enter it now, to leave a message stay on the line." Is there a way I can change this so it plays their personal greeting to all callers? My other inquiry is (and sorry if this has been done) is there a windows version of the Stratagy admin software? The DOS version doesn't work on XP.

I'm running it on Windows XP (pro). I have had an XP box that didn't like to run DOS programs. I searched the internet and found a solution, but I don't remember what the fix was. There is not a windows version for the IVP8.
Do you have the admin software running on any PC connected to the CTX?

I can run the software, but when I try and connect it crashes back to windows and I get an error about not being able to directly access the COM ports. I have an old windows box around somewhere that I used to use to connect.

It's not crashing. It just can not connect, and it's closing the DOS window. Now we just have to find out why. You won't be able to fix the issue until you connect to the Stratagy.
Make sure COM 1 is your serial port
Use a null modem serial cable.
Is the front Bezel in the Stratagy Tan? -Then you should be using Xadmin3 -Baud rate should be 9600
Don't worry about the modem string. That is for dialing in.

I have to tell my serial port to be com 2 I have to tell my modem to be com 1 (for remote) and make sure in Stratagy config to select com2
all of our tech's are doing it this way with windows xp pro.
If your voicemail is a IVP8 R2 you need to use the XADMIN4 and set the baud rate to 56000

I have XP and com 1 works great, For remote though you have to change your modem to COM 2. I have had no problems.
Your fix is under Stratagy configuration- edit system dial codes. you must change all the busy strings to no answer strings. change all the little b's to little r's
This will send all calls in the busy or DND state to greeting 1 instead of the busy greeting
Or the easy way to fix it: just record your busy greeting.

I am connecting to the DOS based Stratagy VM's through a USB port using an adapter on my laptop, whichis running XP Pro. I had to chnage the COM port on my laptop to 1 or 2 in order for it to work though.
