I have 2 newly installed DKT2020-SD sets where the MSG light doesn't turn on when they have a message in their VMbox. Background: Strata DK424 KSU, with Contact DK voicemail card. I just changed the PCB type in Prg 03 from 64 to 62 on PDKU2 cards in slots 11 and 12. Did this to use ports 007 and 015 for these new phones. Changed PDN's in prog 04.

The mailboxes are set up and working OK, but the MSG light doesn't light nor does it call their VM when they have a message.

I've looked through the manual and can't find what I've obviously missed in programming these sets. Help?

Is there a reason you used 62 and not 61

also are the 656/657 call forwards in on new stations ?

ports 007 an015 are the last ports on the 1st 2 cards and probably would be 107/207 115/215
the last ports on those cards are possible dss positions.
You didnt say if dss's are on site.

just for jollys what keystrip types are assigned
for the new 2020sd sets.

62 vs 61... nope. Just needed to change from 64 since no DSS's on site and I needed those ports.

#656, #657 programming has been done with same strings that work on all other stations on site.

This site was upgraded from a DK40i to DK424 sometime before I worked there. They were using 2 digit extension #'s and didn't change to 3 with the DK424 upgrade. Physical and logical port numbers are the same on these, and all stations on site. I modified the PDN's in Prog 04 to use x36 on port 007, and x39 on port 015.

I believe I set Prog 38 Keystrip codes to 31. I redid Prog 39 Feature buttons last.

Thanks for your reply. Any added thoughts? Dan

The MW on a 2020 is a separate button/led so that has nothing to do with program 39 nor keystrip types.

You didn't say that you powered down, waited and powered up. The card type only changes on power up, so your 424 may think there is still a DSS equipped card in there and not let a MW be set.

The fact that you changed both cards and neither phone has a working MW light suggests you should power down and up, then leave a message.

If your 603 forwards, and 656 puts it into the right mailbox, and you have PDN # 65792 [Ext. number] [redial] done exactly perfect then I would power down and up and test.

Are you using SMDI? If so, check program *32 for ports 007 and 015.

I did power off the system, waited 15 secs, and powered on AFTER I reprog'd PCB types in Prog 03. #604 Busy/NoAns forwarding is working OK.

I'm very new regarding working on a Toshiba Strata DK424. I just reviewed the *32 Program in the manual. I'll bet this parameter isn't set for these new ports. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Folks this has nothing to do with the Toshiba programming. The MSG light is lit by the notify table in the voicemail and so it is the contact dk that has the issue. Anyone with contact dk experance jump in here and help Dan out.

Grasping for straws.

Double check program 03 that they did change back to 62. Look at what the other PDKUs are set for, 61 or 62, match them.

Delete the two mailboxes and create them again.

657 is the ONLY thing that determines what mailbox is called when you press the MW button.

[Int] # 6 5 7 9 2 [extension] [Redial] is all it takes.

If you can do terminal programming in the Contact, look for a difference in mailboxes that you would not notice in phone programming.

On the older contact dk voicemail cards the integration codes are :
int, #, 656, #, ext number, redial speaker
int, #, 657, *, ext number, redial speaker

You may also need to check to be sure the ports are programmed the same as the other extentions that already have working voice mail boxes.

I am not familiar with smdi programming for voicemail but this works for me.

Thanks for everyone's help. The 656 & 657 strings that JBW listed ARE the correct ones for this system and have been done (repeatedly) on these new exts. Bunny - the card type changes (to type 62) are there and match the other PDKU2's. SSPhone, I think you are correct - it's probably something in the ContactDK setups that I'm missing, because I've already checked the ports and they're identical to all others. Steve's been a great help to me on several occassions, but says ContactDK is not his strong suit. I'd like to get an experienced consultant familiar with this older ContactDK card that I could call. Anyone?
