This is what mine looks like:
Mod- color -DB9 1 --- Bue ----5 2 -- Yellow---1 3 -- Green ---4 4 -- Red -----6 5 -- Black ---3 6 -- White -- 2
You need to use a crossed 6 wire cable with this pinout.

if you are connecting to smdr use 45 and 36 on a plug wired to a jack, then use a telephone base cord from wall to com port on pc
set com port on pc same as smdr port and it should work, if this does not work use your pc hyperterminal open and make test calls, then at the plug try it to your pc if it works plug it in and test if it stope working open hyper on the call accounting machine and test if it does not work reboot pc and test. if still does not work reboot ctx and test etc and so on.Hope this helps

So stringmachince if you are trying to connect to smdr do you mean that you cannot use the pptc-9 lead to do so?
What exactly do you mean when you say use 45 and 36 on a plug wired to a jack? Sorry to be so lame with my questions im just pulling my hair out at the minute
Also relating to smdr, i am trying to use a PIOUS card in a CTX 100, is this possible? At the moment I cant get any response from the system and Im unable to break it down between it being the card/cable or my fault :-)
Any help greatly appreciated

The PIOU/S cards are not compatible with the CTX/CIX. You will need a BSIS to accomplish serial SMDR. The PPTC9 can and should be used for serial SMDR.

Btw, the 36 & 45 meant the positions of the pinouts on a jack. However, that's only 4 positions. You will need 6 positions wired.

Thanks for the reply phonemeister, I had been wondering about the PIOUS being compatible with the CTX because we had pulled it out of a DK 280 that we were upgrading with a CTX yet we hadn't re-used the PIOUS card and i couldnt remember why....this was a couple of years ago. The card has been knocking around the office and I couldnt find anywhere that told me I couldnt use it..........at least I now know why it aint working :-)
Thanks for your help

The CTX series cannot accept the PIOU/PIOUS cards but rather, split their functions into the BSIS and BIOU cards.
BSIS for SMDR BIOU for zone paging and relay control, with MOH as well
