I am trying to figure out the soft keys on a Strata DK280 Toshiba system. The book I have states "The following list provides definitions of all of the Soft Key prompts that could appear on your LCD". Out of the list two show, TALK and MESG. The list also lists BUSY. The definition says that this soft key will send a call waiting tone to a busy station. Can someone point me in the right direction on using this soft key? Is there any programming that needs to be done to make this feature available?

The "Soft Keys" are the 3 buttons just below the display.

They show you options as you receive a call as you make a call, etc.

If you get a busy signal it can show ABR for Automatic Busy Redial, push the button under ABR and it will repeatedly make calls to a number that was busy.

On receiving a call, it can show Page, which button would if pressed put that call on hold and let you do a page.

If you see BUSY, you press the button under BUSY in the display and it sends a tone to the station.

About all you are doing is reading and understanding the abbreviation in the display and pushing the appropriate button under the feature.

Try it out on an incoming call and an outgoing call and you should have it down pat in a couple minutes.

The programming is enabled by default but you can turn it on and off, if I remember it is Mode 70 and Mode 71, but I've never needed to turn it off.
