I just got a Samsung Alias from Verizon Wireless a few weeks ago. I'm pretty impressed with it so far. Good texting capapbility, decent pic quality, decent battery life, basically just an all around good phone so far. And way smaller than some other "texter" type phones. The only thing they dropped the ball on is PC syncing for calendar, contact list, etc. But on the good side you can download all the Ricky Martin songs you would ever want through VCast..... :p

i use a Nokia E62 and i absolutely love it. it's not small but it's pretty thin so i don't mind having it in my pocket all day. being able to type notes rather quickly and keep my calendar and to-do lists at the ready helps me pretend i'm not so disorganized.

microSD slot and a mini USB port so it's really easy to get stuff on and off of it. MP3 ringtones too, if that's your thing.. mine is a Dream Theater tune. =)

almost forgot to add, it was only $29 with contract. refurbished, of course, but i couldn't tell it from a new one. i've had it almost a year now and my only complaint is that the menus are too slow for me, but then i'm pretty impatient with my electronic devices.

i don't know if that's a regular deal but if they have it, it's probably free by now..

Biztel - do *228 or *22899 to update it on Verizons network - that helps the battery life. I always had great luck with batteries on BBs - and I use it a lot.

I also exercise them well, so if its getting used, I always let it run down fairly well before charging them back up.

I'm using the Palm Treo 700P from Verizon.

I always carried a palm, an ipod and a cell phone. Now I've just got one thing to carry.

I don't go online with it, or get my email. Seems unnecessary. Just Phone, PDA & Music.

I have a lot of alarms, quite a few calls and have never had a problem with battery life. But then again, I plug it in almost every night.

Quality is real good, keyboard is easy to use, speakerphone is fine.

No need to do that with Li-Ion batteries..

Actually, I've been told they actually last longest if kept around 75% full as much of the time as possible.

audiovox
pocket pc ppc 6600?
moto Q w/bigger battery.

other than that the brick style, not flip have bigger batteries, and slide out antena seem to work better.

No such thing as a decent cell phone anymore. I use a Motorola StarTAC on Verizon Wireless I've had I bought it new back in March 2002. It was discontinued shortly thereafter.

6 years later it still works well, but it's getting old, the charger jack is intermittent so I have to use another one as a "charging mule", and I swap the batteries every morning.

When it finally quits I don't know what I'll get, everything is such garbage these days, and even if I found a new old stock StarTAC ST7686 Verizon would refuse to activate it on the grounds that federal law forbids them from doing so.

I've read that for a small fee those mall type independent dealers would activate one.

Ah, another StarTac fan. I stocked up on batteries and parts purchased on E-bay to support mine. I even have a brand-new unit that VZW refuses to activate. I maintain my original StarTac on my VZW account since it is the primary number. I can't dare think of changing anything or they will disconnect it. I use the serial cable to perform remote programming at night since everything is LD from my home.

I keep it turned off except when I need to use it for fear that it may eventually fail. I'd use it as my everyday phone, but I don't want to risk it getting broken.

It's true, all cell phone activations now are required to have e-911 and/or GPS capabilities which the StarTac lacks, so I'm hanging onto mine as long as they'll let me.

At this moment mine's got 22,066 minutes on the odometer.

I am currently attempting to gain employment as a Prem. Tech. with AT&T in S. Florida, so I suppose if that works out I'd probably use their service, in which case I believe I could use an AT&T GSM SIM card in any North American 'unlocked' GSM phone... I have an old Motorola Omnipoint (remember them??) phone kicking around here somewhere...
