Hi All,

Few months ago I used to have 2 cabinet dk280 system VER=RBA3X2T. I am now setting up 4 cabinet using CPU VER=RCA3X2T. I have a Stratagy 6 lite voice mail PC with 4 ports.

On 4-cabinet system:
vm port 104 is 6111
vm port 105 is 6112
vm port 106 is 6113
vm port 107 us 6114

In previous 2 cabinet system I used *04 to set DH port 900 to 500. From any phone when I used to dial 500 it used to call VM and ask for security code, that was correct. In new 4 cabinet system I did the similar assignment using *04 to set DH port 900 to 500. But when I dial 500 the system does not forward to voicemail.

Though the new system seems to behave fine when I use other extensions say 811 that uses port 500, set using *04. After setting *33,39,Call Forward to 6111 (VM extension), I hear the right message stored for mailbox 811.

I think I am missing something that I didn't program. I did set some other program where first VM port was set to 104.

Please note that on both systems *40 does not work.

Please let me know if you have any clue.

use program 33 for the hunting on the voicemail ports , and set the first port of voicemail to ring when you need the voicemail to answer.

Program 33 is correctly set as:
104->105
105->106
106->107
107->104

To set first port if voicemail to ring, did you mean using program 81-89 or some other program?
Program 82 and 84 are set to ring for port 104.

If you can't use *40 then there's no sense in changing DH 900 to 500. In program *04 try changin port 104 to 500, but first you'll have to blank PhDN 500 in program *04. If you are calling voicemail directly and it prompts you for your password then you must be using SMDI. In that case, make sure that you have the SMDI link back up.

Thanks for your responses.
You were right that system is using SMDI for voicemail. I know that assigning vm port 104 to 500 (instead of 6111) will work because when I dial 6111 directly I hear the message Enter the Security code. I verified by printing program 04 and *04 that no port is assigned to 500 except for port 900.
In *04:
500 is assigned to 811 (not to default 500)
900 is assigned to 500

As I mentioned earlier even my previous system (with 2 cabinets)did not support program *40 but above setting worked with pervious system. Both system seemed to have same s/w versions (rba3x2t, rca3x2t).

Plese note that other call forwarding using *33,39,#601 to 6111 is working fine. I was also able to leave a voice mail to one of the phone and with MSG button I was able to retrieve the message fine. That makes me feel that SMDI link is correct.

Just a note that when I dial 500, I get the sound like a busy or vacant tone but on the LCD the system only shows 500.

If nothing works I know that I have a choice to set vm port 104 to 500 as phonemeister suggested.

I tried assiging the vm ports as follows:
104->500 (changed from 6111 to 500)
105->6112 (no change)
106->6113 (no change)
107->6114 (no change)

When I dialed 500, I got the root company message instead of 'Enter Security code'. But when I tried 6112, I got the correct message 'Enter Security code'. Please note that prior to changing 6111 to 500, when I dialed 6111 I got the right message 'Enter Security Code'. Something is not right.

As my first preference I would like to make 900->500 work if possible unless there some software limitation.

Ok, change port 104 back to 6111. In program *04, put 500 back to port 500. Then try this... In program *33 assign 500 to an owner. In program 39, assign ##500 to a key on the owner's phone. Go to that phone, push the phantom button and dial #6016111 and hang up. Give it a test and let us know if that worked.

Dial 500
I hear the company greeting.
On VM PC I see: 990 Greeting.

Case 2:
Set 104 back to 6111. (using 04)
Set 500 to 500 (using *04)
Set the owner of 500 - port 005 (*33)
Used 39 to add key ##500.
Key (##500), #601, 6111.
Dial 500, Call forwards to 6111
I hear the company greeting.
On VM PC I see: 990 Greeting.

Dial 6111
I hear 'Enter Security Code'
On VM PC I see: 299 Login
Same with 6112,6113,6114

Case 3:
Set 501 to 812 (using *04)
Set the owner of 501 - port 005 (*33)
Used 39 to add key ##501.
Key (##501), #601, 6111.
Dial 812, Call forwards to 6111
I hear the correct greeting for 812.
On VM PC I see: 812 Greeting.

So the problem still exists as per Case 2.

Try this: change ports 104-107 to extensions 500-503 respectively. In the Stratagy System Configuration change 'SMDI_base_port' option to 500 and reboot Stratagy.
