Moved a customers pre-programmed DK 280 today and they had an expansion cab with some PDKU's to add-on but the expansion cab is bringing the whole system down when I hook it up (was only single cabinet previously).

I hooked ribbon cable to cab 2, cycled power on both systems and then my program port doesn't come back up... blank LCD, just key beep, and LED's start to flash on the program phone (port 005). I only have a 424 manual and in that it says pgm *03 is used to program the expansion cabinet but that program doesn't work on this 280. My 280 PDF manual says nothing about an expansion cab.

I was able to program the 2 PDKU's PCB codes for slots 21 & 22

Is this an easy fix? It was a late night move & I really had hoped for no snags... oh well.

Thanks for any help.

What processor PCB do you have? If it is an RCTUA, then it will only support the base cabinet. You have to have at least a RCTUB for one expansion cabinet. Check out the configuration section of your I & M manual.

I'd go with BobRobert's This is because, if the processor card is RCTUA, it can only support 16 CO Lines and 32 Extensions.

But if the Processor card is RCTUB and above, then you would need to check the ribbon connector, MEBU at the expansion cabinet. (You might need a spare MEBU or another expansion cabinet to do this)

Another question is, the two PDKU cards, are they on the expansion cabinet, if they are, you might want to test them out, just in case they are contributing to the fault

Twas the grounding strap between the 2 cabinets. I never hooked it up because there was't one & it slipped my mind. Expansion came right up after that.

Thanks for the replies.
