Hi guys, We're getting our new CIX 100 next Thursday (FINALLY!) and I've been talking to the techs about how we want it programmed, and need help. Situation: our receptionist also has another job function, transaction coordinator. Her phone is 202, where "general" messages get left, so when someone leaves a general message, it lights 202's MWI. She has her own mailbox (317), but no MWI. I'd like to get the vendor to program a phantom for 317 and a phantom MWI for 317, but when talking to them today, they recommeneded against it, because they said that whenever EITHER lit MWI is blinking and pushed to dial and check, it just dials into the most recently set mailbox, and they won't have a way to know which box they are listening to unless they look at the display. Anyone else run into this problem, or have another way to approach it? I've got to get her a MWI somehow as messages are getting overlooked as she has no reminder. Thanks. --Chad

Heres what I do...... Create a mailbox 317, set store messages to 'no' and copy to MB202. Record greeting #1. Heres what happens...
When a caller gets to MB317 they will hear the 317 greeting, but the actual message is stored in MB202 (not 317). The MSG lite will flash on 202. Whe she presses the MSG lite and logs into MB202 she will hear something like "Message from mailbox 317" so she knows that message came in via the 317 mailbox.
This is a great solution for someone who needs two diffetent MB greetings and can utilize one message light.

I like that approach also. Saves on buttons too. I don't have general message boxes store messages anymore. You can have Phantom message waiting that will light up independant of the phone's MSG light, but I have seen when the have messages in both boxes and they press their msg light, it goes to the wrong box. All they hear is that their security code is incorrect. Very confusing for them.

I have a more expensive solution. Put a additional 3010SD phone at 202. Use that one to store the "general" messages and to retrieve messages. You can answer another call on the "real" phone and do a quick trnasfer while picking up messages and you don't mess with lights and buttons to say nothing of having an extra phone (LD restricted) for people to use if they have a rational need to use a phone.
One phone is not a lot of money and its useful. I've done it that way for years for Toshibas and Norstars and Samsungs and I'm stuck in that rut of having a spare phone at reception.

Chad, Yes I have run into that problem, but it is only a problem if the phantom message wait light for 317 doesn't work. We send all general delivery calls to a phantom 500 ext, This way you can make the 0 from voicemail ring on multiple phones, and also the phantom message wait to appear on multiple phones as well. Then the receptionist use her extension mailbox as her personnel mailbox. We have thousands of them installed, without fail.
this is a way more flexible way of setting it up
