We have CTX28 system. I want to create 7 three digit extensions for voice mail only. We have some employees who work just outside ... they dont like that clients leave voice message on their cell phone...they want voice messages on office system... so want to create three digit extensions that directly goes to voice message && employees can access those voice message from outside.

You may want to check out the thread list below, it touches on setting up mailboxes with no phones. I have set voice mailboxes starting at ext 218. These extentions would not exist in the ctx28/cix40 system itself, and my idea only works through the auto attendent.

This could also work if they have a reception desk. You would have to program a direct transfer button : CNF#407 + mailbox number + #. Idealy, the CNF#407 should be programmed on a button as a one touch. The receptionist will then have to enter the mailbox number and # to transfer the caller directly into the mailbox.

above does work if you can program the switch. if you are unable program the switchyou can create the mailboxes thru the admin mailbox then go into each mailbox and set them to do not disturb. To trnsfer to them from an inside extension press cnf/trn dial your v.m. pilot number when you start to hear the greeting dial the mailbox number and hang up and the outside caller will be connected to mailbox.

Create pilot DN's with the numbers you want to use. Under alternate destination select dialing digits. For alternate DN put in your VM pilot. And for the VMID put it in to match each pilot DN. From anywhere in the system someone can dial and /or xfer calls to these numbers as if they were physical phones except the call will be sent directly to the VM box for each. Saves the hassle of putting phantoms on a phone and having to forward each of them.

People sometimes tend to forget that you can program buttons thru the phone using #9876 as described in the users manual.

First assign button type of 570, then program One-Touch to CNF#407 to transfer to VM.

Pilot DN I think works best if you can program switch. I even us it for off-site transfer, by using the voicemail tokens, instead of creating a Phantom and setting CF-ALL.
