Hey ya'll,
I have a 670/release 4 software - IP phones/LIPUs only with T1->fax server and BSTU. We are having problems with modem transmissions over the PRI from our analog ports. Fax calls fail intermittently but do actually connect often and postage machine/laptop modems will not sync/connect to external sites.

Ive tried:
1. several modems, changed baud rates
2. swapped BSTU
3. checked tails
4. checked station programming to SLT/EXT/Audio
5. double checked clock is set to RPTU slot
6. our other tech tested PRI channels with zero errors
7. no error lights at NID or RPTU, voice calls fine
8. hooked up laptop to analog card and was able to connect to internal KSU and voicemail modem per #19 and 993 so analog card may not be problem.

I have yet to call at&t but I suspect they will say that its our side. Toshiba tech support has no further solutions. PRI card has not been swapped yet. I suspect that the clocking is off but that is just a guess based on research. Before I potentially lose precious time on-site, does anyone have suggestions?

Is the RPTU card a RPTU1B or higher? Have you tried moving the RPTU to another slot or cabinet?

Is this an establihed PRI for this customer or is it a new PRI?
Sounds like a upgrade I did years ago and it turned out that the CO that brought in the PRI couldn't do data only voice. Faxes would fail everytime after 1 plus page, postage machine, etc.
It turned out that the type of switch at the CO couldn't be configured as we had ordered it.
We had to bring in half a dozen copper centrex lines to hookup through a line sharing device.

If its a PRI thats been installed for sometime then I would check programming and then get AT&T involved.

Sounds to me that the PRI is slipping, have telco come out with you looking at their equipment to verify the slips.

Another thing you might want to try, change the SLT to Speech

I also thought of, is this site transmitting across qsig? If so, is IP qsig. If it is, Faxing over IP is not supported.
