Hey guys,

I am new to the Toshiba world comming from Avaya and Nortel. I recently took over a system at a new job with 550 extentions. It only took me a week to get Emanager functioning :-).

I have a few questions and hope someone can help me. We have a CTX/CIX 670 and I wonder if I need a SMDR serial card on the processor or can I use the network?

Also the speaker on my personal phone is being used as a pager for the department and I want to remove it. How do I do that?

Any help would be great.

Welcome!

Do you mean the speaker on your phone is activated when an external page is made? You can remove your extension from the all call page group to eliminate pages coming through your phones speaker.

What are you trying to accomplish with SMDR? The SMDR info is typically used for call accounting applications. When you say newtork, are trying to get the admin software on the network?

If you have a release 4 processor, you can have IP SMDR. But your call accounting software must be able to recieve SMDR via IP.

For a system that large, they should have installed a BSIS on the processor and the appropriate licenses. BTW, its a card with 4 six-pin jacks piggyback on the processor. With this, you would be able to receive SMDR packets.

Hey guys thanks for the replies.

I did get the pager off of my phone(thanks) and as to the SMDR we do not have a BSIS on our processors(2PBX's). I need to figure out what processor version we have to see if I can do the IP SMDR thing.

What I did with the serial SMDR at my old job was sent it to a program called serial logger that just kept collecting the SMDR data daily. And every day it would start a new file. Sort of a poor mans call accounting.

If the processor has a smartmedia card, it can only support up to ver. 3 software. Ver. 4 software requires the new processor that has a securedigital (SD) card.

Even though the BSIS has 4 serial ports, the processor only comes licensed for one. Should be enough for what you want.
