I have a CIX670 and an LIPU installed. First off, is there any restrictions on which card slot you can put an LIPU in? I have it in slot 9 of the first expansion cabinet. The problem I am having is that the IPT's connect and calls can be made but there is no speech path either way. Any ideas?

Sorry, wanted to say the even when the IPT is connected directly to the LIPU with a cross-over, I still get no speech path. Got to be something simple but I cant figure it out.

OK must have been the card slot. I was under the impression that the LIPU(alone, no LIPS) could use any card slot. I put the LIPU in slot 5 of the base cabinet and walla, IPT's work like a charm. Funny thing is, I went off of the CIX Quote cabinet configuration chart which told me to put that card in that slot.

I use that chart as a guideline for power factors, thats all.

I was thinking power factors too, but when I got back to the office today I double checked the quote and even crunched the numbers myself and it all pans out.

Slots 7-10 in the expansion cabinets only support 8 channels, not 16 like the rest. An LIPU uses 16. I wouldn't know which ports it uses first since you don't assign pots to phones on an LIPU.
Install guide says it can only be in an odd number slot in Base cab, or only 1,3, or 5 in expansion.

Ya you see the Toshiba documentation contradicts itself sometimes. I see in the I&M manual where it says LIPU in 1,3,5 of expansion cabinets, but if you look on the very next page it says this, "Install the LIPU into a CIX card slot. Any CIX card slot can be used without restriction." That was copied and pasted straight from the manual. Then of course the CIX Quote puts it in slot 9 of the expansion cabinet.

Lol... have you seen how the software arranges DKT, SLT and CO line cards? Confusing. But its great for power factor calculations.
On another note, their manuals need to improve a whole lot! The descriptions are vague and unhelpful. I wonder if they've been translated directly from Japanese.
Hey, u guys got CIX quote? I though Toshiba discontinued it? At least thats what I hear in Asia.
