Hoo Boy! I think I have gotten myself in deep. I belong to a very small church here in Houston, (average 60-70 Sunday attendance) that has a Toshiba Strata DK 40i key system with Stratagy voice mail. The church is in lousy shape financially (currently meeting in parish hall until we can arrange 30k in financing to replace the ancient and now completely defunct HVAC in the church itself) and trying to find areas to save a buck.

Well to make a long story short, the rector has suddenly recalled that I am a telecom administrator and has asked me if I can maintain the switch. Since I have never touched a switch that small, nor am I trained on anything but Siemens and Cisco enterprise type equipment, I attempted to demur. However, after my wife (also known as “The Lovely and Talented Carolyn” or LTC ) batted her eyes at me and told me I shouldn’t turn down the church; I eventually agreed to look into what would be required for me to maintain this dinky little phone system. With luck I can eventually talk my company into donating one of the Hicom 3750 and Phonemail server combos we have been replacing with Cisco, but for now I need to see what I can do with what they got.

Anyone out there feeling charitable and want to hip me to software and admin and user manuals? If you are in the Houston area, I would be willing to work out some kind of barter of my labor outside of normal business hours in return for basic training and materials.
