My customer currently has a voice T1 from Telepacific going into a channel bank. 12 lines are comming off to a 66 block pairs 1 - 12. Then pairs 21 - 25 show DID lines. How do the DID's connect to the system? They have a total of 60 DID's. Are the 4 pairs carrying all 60?
Thanks, Dave

The DID trunks will connect to an RDDU , which provides 4 DID lines each can have a single office code along with a block of extensions

Thanks for responding.
So the 4 DID lines that are physically cross connected to an RDDU would be considered Analog DID's?
If i unplugged the T1 from the channel bank and plugged it straight into the new system that doesn't have an RDDU but does have a digital trunk module (RJ45), would the service provider need to do anything on their end?

What switch is this. CTX 670? The 4 port RDDU connected to the D.I.D.'s is in what switch?
If its a CTX670 or 100, and you have the T1 card(example bptu) you go from T1 smart jack (from LEC) to this card VIA RJ45 patch cable. IF I understand right.

The RDTU would be for T1. Technically no the Telco would not have to anything, however you will need specs on how the span is setup. Most likely B8ZS / EFS. Are the DID channels wink or Imm. I would hope they were wink, but....
Then program your switch. Set up channels 1-12 in one trunk group and then set up channels 21-24 as DID's in a second trunk group.
It would be much nicer to change to entire span to DOD's so all trunks could be used for outgoing and you would be able to receive incoming calls on all channels.
This is getting long, You get the Idea though

Don't do it unless all the trunks are switched to DIOD(direct inward outward dial). DK, CTX and/or CIX do not handle analog T-1 trunks well at all. Toshiba says don't do it.

Hutchcomm, To answer your question currently it is a CTX 670 w/ a 4 port RDDU and I am going to change out their system to a Nortel BCM w/ a digital trunk module. Nortel doesn't have a 4port RDDU equivalent.
To do this switch does the CLEC need to be in on the cut over?
I asked a "senior tech" and he said just unplug from the Channel bank and plug straight into the new system. Of course program the Nortel for the T1.

If its a BCM,, I think you are correct. Go from smart jack to the BCM, w/ consideration of configuration of the switch. Id call the LEC just for general info of the circuit though...
Good luck on your cut over
