Ive read on the Toshiba site that you can load the database from a CIX100 to a 670 provided that the software version on the 670 is the same or higher than that of the 100. Has anyone tried this? Is it as simple as dropping the default.dat file in the PROGDATA folder and off you go? Id rather build new from scratch than donate my next paycheck to buying a new 670, if you know what I mean.

Yes, it's possible as you described. Put the default.dat file in the PROGDATA folder of the SD/SM card and initialize the switch. A few thing to look out for is if you have a 24-channel PRI in slot 103 of the 100 that you have slot 104 on the 670 empty, and that the 670 has enough licenses. The external paging will also be different. But don't worry about permanently ruining the processor by uploading the database because you can always default the processor.
