short version:
we have 6 lines, all through our CIX. line 6 we use just for fax.
currently, when we dial 9 from a phone or fax machine, it starts with line 6 and goes down to 1. We need to have only the fax machine pick up L6 when it dials 9, and all the phones pick up starting with 5 and going down when it dials 9.
I have emanager and have done a little programming, is this something I could do or should I talk to our vendor?
thanks!!! laugh

You'll have to use LCR if you aren't already and involves quite a bit of knowledge setting up LCR routing and LCR group assigments in addition to trunk OLG assignments. You're probably better off having your vendor come do it.

As a temp solution, in eManager, go to Advanced Configuration > Trunk > Assignments and on the Basic tab of each CO line, #12 Hunt Order, you can change that so that line 5 is number 1, line 4 is 2, etc. and line 6 should be 6 so that its the last line to be picked. Keep in mind that it still is possible that line 6 can be used for a voice call.

Or just create a new OLG, and put line 6 in that OLG, then it will not get selested with LCR when dialing 9.

If you don't change LCR, it will still got out OLG 1, and select lines 5 thru 1.

why is the fax line on the system anyway? If you have the knowledge, remove the line from the system and cross it directly to the fax machine then reprogram the system for 5 lines.

Both of these solutions will work, neither will allow the fax to grab line 6 first.

Or, put Line 6 in OLG 2, and make the fax port ring down to Line 6. Then you won't have to dial 9 on the fax.

Shawn - he wants to use it for voice calls when its idle.

LCR will grab lines 5-1, then 6.

Depending on the software level, you can also program the fax SLT port to only use CO 6 in Station > Assignments, and you still wont have to dial the 9. 4.xxx or higher if im not mistaken.

I didn't read the part about having his fax go out line 6 when dialing 9. Then if your SW level and processor are not current enough ( I also think 4.XX), you will have to modify the LCR tables. If you change the hunt order, than all phones and faxes will follow that order on outgoing LCR.

Or instead of 9, you could dial #7006 before dialing, but that's a lot to add.

I usually don't recommend putting faxes on a system with analog trunks, expecially if you use the fax for incoming also. An exception may be if the fax is not used much, and primarily for outgoing, and you need the extra line for peak call volume, or you don't very many lines.
