I was tasked with programing the External Caller ID for the phone system. I have done some very minor changes that our Phone System so I know how to get into the programing and at least look up some basic stuff but not much more. The company that provides support for us provided some very basic training a month ago but they are very unreliable with responding to questions. We have had this system for close to 4 years and was used when we got it. The installer is our current Support people also.
Anyway to the question....
I believe he told me it is in program *50 but looking at the Programing Manual is not helping. He also said that we had 30 "lines" that we could attach phone numbers to.
From what I was told, we are running a Strata DK424i and I believe it is software release 4.3 but I am not sure.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you have 30 lines in the system, you will see at lease 4 RCOU/RCOS cards in the cabinet. You will need RCIU/RCIS cards in order to get caller ID. They will have to be properly wired to the lines and programmed.

Adding those cards will mean that you also have to make share you have enough cabinet space. Make share that you have a large enough processor to support the number of cabinets you will need.

According to our installer we can do it. He even show me that he could have the programing phone (port5) show 911 when called (scary but cool at the same time)
He also said that we have the fastest processor that this system can take so I don't think that will be a problem. I know we have the hardware I just don't know exactly how to do it.

Check out the Manuals link at the top of this page. You should be able to find the I&M and Programming manuals.

Yea, I have the Programing Manual I just need some direction. It does not make much sense. From what the manual says (If I am in the right program *50)
(edited: please do not post how to enter system programming mode)
Where do I enter the 10 digit phone number to show or the extension that I want to assign to it?
I know that the first set of ? is the Processor that I have (how do I find this out) and the second is the Circuit number. Not sure what that is.

Keith, I haven't dealt with caller ID, but your reference to Processor in the above post got me curious.
The way I read my manual, the the first set of ??? is the CO Line number and the second ??? is the corresponding RCIU port number. I think you were getting confused by the table that shows the CO range is 001-004 for a small processor (must enter all 3 digits) and 001-200 for the largest processor. You can pretty much forget that table and assume that you are dealing with CO lines 001 -030. The other thing they are trying to show you is that these ranges start with 001, not 000 like some other programs.
Since each incoming CO connects to both a RCOU (for voice) and RCIU (for CID), the simplest situation would be to connect the first port of the first RCOU and the first port of the first RCIU to Line 1 and continue sequentially thru the last port of the last cards. Your program *50 would then look like SPKR 001 # 001 HOLD thru SPKR 030 # 030 HOLD.
The only case where I would see a non-equal mapping would be if you were dealing with a single RCIU card pulling CID from lines in the middle of a large range where you might do something like mapping CO line 068 to RCIU circuit 001.

Thanks, for the reply, it is starting to make sense.
Yea, I am talking about the CO Line Range but I still am unsure how to assign a CID number to that Line.

Yes, so I can assign extension 200 with DID phone number of 555-5200 to show that number and not the main number when they call out
