Hello all,
Just so you know, I have been a Facilty/Network Manager and a Avaya Installer off and on for the last 10 years. A year ago I took a job as the facilty/phone guy for a company. They have a CTX 670 with a Stratagy ES. A few months ago the voicemail dies. I put in an old IVP temp and sent the unit off to toshiba to be fixed. I got it back and installed a couple of weeks ago. During that time we change email providers and now the unified messaging doen't work. I have updated the email adresses and the smtp server information in the Mailbox editor and the system paramaters; however I am still getting errors.
When I look in the trace it refers to "no SMTP IP found for domain" and Querying server #1 address 0.0.0.0
so I ran a Netmeeting onto the voicemail. When I run internet explorer it cannot find yahoo but if i put in yahoo's ip adress it pulls it up. I think I need to change some of the IP settings. I have it set as a static IP 192.168.0.1 / 255.255.255.0 and Gatway as 192.168.0.1. Do I need somthing in the DNS or Winns area? Anything else I need to change? I assume if explorer is not working correctly it will not send email correctly.

you would probablt need to put DNS in there so it can do name resolution.
Also in the Voicemail setup I think you will have to put the SMTP name for the mail server.

You can go to another PC on the network and RUN, CMD, then do an "IPCONFIG /ALL" to see the DNS and gateway settings should be. Or you can use 4.2.2.1, which a lot of people use when they don't iknow their DNS setting. If you are sending to an SMTP server on the local network, like an exchange server, then DNS would not make a difference.

Mistyped the IP address 192.168.0.32 and gateway 192.168.0.1 I'll add the DNS info and see what happens. I'm really going to show my ignorance with the question but hey what the heck. What is the proper way to shut down and restart the voicemail? Should you do it through a netmeeting or from the buttons on the card?
