Hi,

I'm installing a DK280 for a non profit here in tucson and detest the thought of programing this beast. I'm an AT&T and Norstar guy so this is a new road for me. However, I guess I'll bite the bullet and dive in.

I'm in search of the easiest way to program this system such as as piece of software I can install on my laptop. Another question I have is what card and/or device do I need to accomplish remote programming?

Thanks is advance for all your help!

The easiest way is to RTFM and do it through the programming phone, IMHO.

BUT

Yes, there is software that you can install on a laptop and you can set-up a MoDem, for remote programming.

Also, how many phones/lines/cabinets/cards/etc. do they have?

Hi,

Thanks for the answer and they have one cabinet, 4 lines and about 10 phones. Almost all the slots are full but I can remove a couple of rads because they are not using the capacity. the system was donated and is much larger than they need.

What is RTFM and IMHO?

Thanks

IMHO is "in my honest opinion" RTFM I believe is "read the {explative} manual" however not a nice way to give advice to someone who doesn't know too much about a system. If you do some looking around on the internet you can find a DK manual. The software would be DKADMIN but I have no idea how you can get a hold of that without being a dealer. I would suggest doing any programming through the phones anyways other than remote programming. Understanding it is a non-profit organization, still going on site for programming changes is the best avenue IMHO..... in my honest opinion.

Okay, good.

Sounds like you can take out a card or two and put in what you need.

You are right on what the acronym meant, but it wasn't intended with vulgarity, it was the "geek" version of "time to get the manual and do some reading"

I guess I just used it too loosely, sorry to offend.

No problem on the acronyms as I need to learn the boards tech talk..ha.

I did find a manual last night and have been reading it but it seems rather deep because it is a large system being used as a small system. Guess I'm looking for someone to hold my hand if I have any problems. I would also be willing to pay someone to remote program it for me because my time can be used elsewhere for other projects. one hour of someones time who knows what they are doing could be equivilant to 10 hours of me banging my head against the wall.

Any takers?

thanks
