I may be out off my league but I purchased a toshiba CTX 8 phone system and I would like to install it myself. Where can I purchase the installation and programing guide? I am somewhat knowledgable about installing network systems; and would like to do it myself. I own a small business with five people. Robert S.

Rob, I am certified on the older Toshiba equipment. I would not touch this system, because there is more to it than I am qualified to install. Installing your own phone system may sound like a good idea on paper. I promise that if take the time to lay out exactly how you want your system to function, be prepared with all of your Auto Attendant greetings, hire a professional to come in and take care of the installation. A small system with a well prepared customer should not take very long to install. You will save yourself time, money, and headaches.
I do not mean to be so harsh with you but, if you do not know what you are doing, you could end up messing things up to the point you have to pay a tech to fix it, then you will get into some real expense.
Oh the stories any of us could share with you....

Call your local Toshiba dealer.
No ifs ands or buts.
Make sure they are up to date with CIX/CTX certification.

Just wondering where you purchased this system. It's not something that is designed for an end user. That's the reason service and installation companies exist. Imagine if someone purchased a Cisco router on ebay and asked you to tell them how to install it and configure it. I don't think you would like that very much, but that's just me.

Your going to need more than those manuals. The programming software is a must on this system.

Once you have the programming software, it is far easier then the older systems, because you are working with a web based GUI environment, that even has flyover help.
Unfortunately, the voicemail, if you have it installed, is not so easy to admin. You will likely have to do it from the phone.

I read over my post and I put down CTX 8. It is a CTX28 if that make a difference. I will check into it a liitle more but sounds like I will need to call a tech. I paid xxx for the unit with 4 DXT3207DS and 4 DXT3210DS phones. I am able to purchase a voice mail call for xxx to add to it if I need. Sounded like a fair deal so I bought it. Thanks for all your help. Please don't post prices on the board, thank you. I know your new to the board, just a friendly reminder.

A sound investment you have acquired and to make it a long lasting relationship you will really need someone trained to do your installation. Find local vendors that are Toshiba trained & certified and check them out, they will also be able to train yourself to administer the system after install. While it won't be cheap it really does pay for itself, usually within the first year.

Rob, I really think it would be a good idea to get a tech. If you want to save money, call a technician ask him what he would like for you to have prepared. Maybe he has a list of questions he asks customers before doing an install. If all information is on paper and you do not make a bunch of changes half way through the install this should be fairly simple and probably would not be paying for more than a few hours of labor plus some additional time for training.
The way things get expensive is if you do not think things through and the tech gets what you asked for done, then you change your mind and he has to go back and redo everything.
Most of an install of this nature is preparation, yours and the technician in your area. Please look the list of techs in your area, there are a lot of good techs here that can help you out.

Rob the 28 is a plug and play switch everything is already set for you to recieve, answer calls and send them to voicemail if you purchase the voicemail card with the system. If you wish to go futher in programing as to set some phones to ring and others not customize your key strips then you NEED a CERTIFIED TECH with emanger to program your switch.
