....i recently installed a dk16 and.....

1. was wondering how to add a voicemail/answering machine...can i add a card for voicemail or possibly hook up an external answering machine?

2. can i run a fax machine the dk16 through one of the lines? (or would i need a card)

system spec:
-stock system (4 lines and 8 stations...i think, with noo additional cards)
-have an expansion cabinet (if necc.)

any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello Kevin and welcome to the board,

Yes, you can add a 4 port analog card.

If you are looking for a single line answering machine, then I would just daisey-chain line 1 to a jack with the answering machine on it, to keep it simple.

If it is a 16e, you can use an internal voicemail in the expansion cabinet.

You can use the internal voicemail but it will eat up eight of your digital ports even if the voicemail is only four ports. You have to program the voicemail slot as a type 31 same as an RSTU card.

When my customer asks me that question, I would give them a 4 port SLT card (KSTU) and a DTMF card (K4RCU). If they have more than four SLT devices, then I would suggest them an 8 port SLT card (RSTU) and an expansion cabinet
