I programmed toll restriction for a courtesy phone (digital single line phone) on a DK8 system. I have succeeded in blocking 0 or 1 as the first digit, and I have one local area code working (303, but when I try to dial using the second area code (720)plus a 7 digit number the system only allows me to dial up to 7 digits and then it stops the call.
How is it that it will allow me to dial 303 + 7 digits, but not 720 + 7 digits. I have both area codes programmed in exception tables in prog. 47, and then I have the port assigned to them.
Any ideas out there?
I have spent several hours trying to find a solution. Plus I have one more DK8 to install with the same setup.
Thanks

The DK8 was Pre-NANP (North American Numbering Plan) That switch does not support 10-digit dialing .
303 is your local area code (where the DK8 is located) 720 is an adjacent area code that the phone company allows as a local call.
Your switch won't handle that. Sorry.

Thanks for the reply. Someone was telling me that there was a chip upgrade available for the DK8 called the QMA1Z. Do you know anything about that?
Both the 720 and 303 area codes are local. How does the DK8 switch know which one to allow ten digit dialing on?

Because 303 have a 0 as a second digits and B4 NANP all systems knew that all Area codes starts with 2-9 and 0 as asecond digits and all numbers with any digits but 0 as a second one had been a 7 digits local calls. That is why your DK8 never will allow you to dial 720 area code because a 2 as a second digits treets by system as a Local call. You need an upgrade to NANP.

Ok, so how do I get the upgrade to NANP? Is it a chipset or do I have to go to another system?

Try changing the class in prog 45-1. I don't have a DK8 manual to reference, but you may be able to get around what vad is talking about in that program.
