We have a helpdesk like that is a MCG - ext 10550. The MCG calls a number of phantom DNs on several phones. If no one answers it uses the SCF to go to VM box 10550.

When there's an outage of some type, I want to have calls to 10550 to go straight to VM, where there will be an explanation, and then users can leave a mesage or press 1 to call the helpdesk (1 would be a menu item in the VM to ring the MCG).

Any advice on how I can set this up would be appreciated. Below is what I've tried that that didn't quite work.

In an attempt to set this up, I changed the helpdesk MCG to 10551 and created 10550 to be a Pilot number which rings an alternate DN of 10551 and has it's VM setup to be 10550. On the occasion of an outage where we need alerts I would setup 10550 to ring 88000 (the VM DN) and setup the VM to be 10551 (the VM for alerts). Pressing one 1 on 10551 would ring the goto an VM ext that would ring the MCG (10551).

The problem now is that when a call comes into the receptionist which needs to be transferred to the helpdesk, the helpdesk line rings (the MCG works) but it doesn't go to VM, it rings back to the receptionist. I tried putting 88000 (the VM DN) as "delay 1" in the MCG but that doesn't work either. Ultimately I set things back to the way they were originally.

Again, any advice on how I can setup a system where I can control whethere a call that comes in goes either to a MCG then VM or just straight to VM would be appreciated.

Id say simplify it, drop the MCG and go with just phantoms, or maybe even have a PDN control everything that way you can have a cfall button control when you need calls to go straight to vm...

Use Day/Day2/Night Modes. Assuming you have immediate access to the admin program(emanager), Day1 mode for the main trunk or DID should ring phantoms in MCG then go to voicemail. Day2 should be programmed to go directly to voicemail pilot number instead of the MCG. Day2 can also be used as your night mode for after-hours auto-attendant. If you have an outage, switch to Day2, set the new company greeting and reset to Day1 when everything is normal again.
