My customer is wanting to upgrade to a PRI in his CTX100. I say fine we can get you an RPTU and you are good to go. We sell atleast 1 a week here and never had a problem.

The guy starts doing some research and comes across some DSU and CSU threads somewhere on a toshiba tech supprt forum.

To my knowledge Toshiba did not make a CSU w/DSU. Could he use an Adtran TSU120? And would he even need it since he is running a voice only setup.

You do not need a CSU/DSU you can come right off the smart jack into RPTU. When you do run thru a CSU/DSU some info gets loss if you have DIDs for faxes.

Although a CSU may be another point of failure, it is required by Toshiba (as stated in the I&M) and is highly recommended. The good far outweighs the bad. I've never had a CSU cause problems with faxes.

I do see in the I&M where it says to install a CSU but haven't used one in the past 6 years because I was having problems of faxes coming out blank and when call Toshiba Tech support they said to remove the CSU and go directly off the smart jack. What is the benefit of a CSU

Just put in an Adtran CSU ACE and you'll be good to go. Don't waste a TSU120 on it.

Agree all the way with needing a CSU, it's great to have when needing a test point. We have almost always used the Adtran ACE as well.
