If it is a MAS (or ACD) then likely the only into the system would be either remote desktop through the firewall (if setup), or if they install some kind of remote software program on it. If there is not a modem of some kind installed on it, then there isn't another way to connect to it. If there is a modem then change the extension.

For voicemail and CIX then change passcodes. For the windows based voicemails, you should change the windows admin, and the stratagy passwords. For the phone system there is the community string. You could change the code for the phone programming, but someone would need physical access to a phone. You could also just turn off programming access on all but 1 or 2 phones.

Asside from a DID to the modem, either the voicemail, or a person could connect a remote user to the phone system's modem. If the system admin box isn't changed, I could create a user from the AA that will get me to the phone system.

I would suggest writing down all the passcodes in a secure place. A year or 2 and a few personal changes later it could be easy to lose.

I believe I left out enough detail in this post to prevent people from figuring out to attack a system.

Thanks, newtecky.

I will definitely try those. Then I can sleep peacefully at night instead of waiting for my Boss's phone to cream at me

smile I try to think of different ways of breaking into a system, Er, I mean preventing break ins of coarse.

Changing the community will definately prevent people from connecting to the CTX. I've run into a system locked like that, plus trying to help people with emanager that always misspell it.
