OK,

So I installed the BSIS on the ASTU3A.

I connected the PPTC-9 to the IVP-8.

I installed the 6 line connector cable from the BSIS to the IVP-8 via the PPCT-9.

Now what? Hos do I get the VM to benefit serial communication instead of 'analog'?

The BSIS is used to send SMDI from the voicemail to the phone system. After you connect cable, both the voicemail system and the phone system have to be configured to use SMDI integration instead of DTMF.

There are several steps involved in the setup. This is typically handled by a Toshiba technician.
