We just installed a CIX 670 system and I am confused on a few items. We are running MAS, but we also use the PC Attendant and have an Exchange Server. Since we have users that use Blackberries and Web Outlook, we were advised to use IP Standard because the voice message would be stored on the Exchange server. With that being said, what is the need for IMAP4?
Thanks.

IMAP4 is a feature that SES uses to keep the email Inbox synced with the SES Inbox. In your Scheduler, UMSYNC (time in minutes) determines when the SES will Sync with the exchange server. Deleting or saving from the UM Client, the exchange server should push this info to the SES, almost instant. If is does not, than the UMSYSC will sync both media's per the scheduler.
Hope this helped

So, since we are not using SES, is IMAP4 operation at all? We were told if we deleted the messages from email, having the IMAP4 checked on AND the Delete the Message radio button clicked, it would delete the message from the phone AND turn the light out on the phone. Is that correct, is IMAP4 operation with both IP Standard or SES??
thanks.

Since the topic said IP standard VS SES proprietary, I'll just add that SES proprietary is only used if you have the outlook client installed on the user's PC. Users of the web client or other devives should use IP standard.
If you ise IP standard and POP3, and the user does not check the actual voicemail box, the messages will be considered new and unheard in the VM and will not be deleted. This may only be a problem if you have several very heavy users. While using IMAP4, if you delete the VM from the email, then it should delete the message from the VM box.
IP standard has the Delete on send option ( depending on the version) if you don't want the messages to pile up and the MWI on the phone to continuously blink.
