You can also use NeMRecovery 1.0, this tends to cure most problems after upgrades, also running Toshiba CheckerSigned program can also help.

My cure is not to automatically install windows update and to pick and choose your updates manually if possible. Best solution is to keep your laptop of the net altogether! Very useful thread though.

I think when this thread was created in 2009, there was no NEM Recovery, and the fix was as descibed. It was a seperate download, then it became installed as part of Network Emanager installation.

If your laptop has plenty of RAM - simply create a VMWare partition, load up the Netmanager, and do all Toshiba programming in the VMWare.
If something frys, load up your backup VMWare partition...
Can be loaded on all the company laptops with identical information.
VMWare has a freeware version that will create.
