Hello again, Here's a new one for me. I have install
2 pri's for our long distance and 800#'s around 2 month's ago.
Channel 1 for inbound
Channel 2 for outbound (so they don't overlap each other.)
Now outbound works fine as far as I know. Inbound worked fine till about a week ago and what users describe to me as crackling noise while on an inbound call. I check one of these calls I hear a very distinct crackling noise about every couple of seconds like 20 seconds or so. It doesn't kill the call just very annoying. Customer can't hear it only end user hears it (nearsided). Also it's universal not a certain station just anybody who takes a inbound 800 call. The two card's are BPTU's both in cabinet 6 on the CIX/CTX 670 with firmware 3.10 so it's the older style Mobo.

Check with tele provider they see nothing on their end. I thought I had the signaling wrong not the case. So I was thinking it has to either be the PAD which are default's or the fact that I have both in one cabinet and it doesn't like interpreting the timing like that or i have a ground issue but as I said I replaced 2 T1 cards for them and it's only those 2 cards and a lipu card in that one cabinet. I'm lost as far as anything else it could be. topic

I would try an outbound LD call and see if your getting the crackling. Then try a local outbound call on the same PRI and see if there is crackling. If there is nothing on the local call it may be a LD carrier issue. I have had this happen several times and it affected the 800 number because of the LD.

Just a suggestion though I'm no Toshiba guy!

Usually the only thing that causes crackling is slippage due to no/bad clocking from the network or a bad card. We never set a secondary clock source as it has some unwanted effects such as yours. If you do have a secondary in there, take it out. If you don't, try changing the clocking from one card to the other. Also, try frogging the card slots.

Thanks guys I last night changed from the live inbound card to a different card and put the inbound to a different cabinet altogether, still same issue. I will try taking out the secondary clock since my first thoughts failed to fix it. I do have secondary clock in place on the outbound card or second pri. then if that doesn't fix it I will harass my LD company till blue in the face. Do you mean frogging as in spacing have had that? I hate being a new to unexplored things the farther I dig down the less I know. Thanks though guys, will keep you posted.

another thing is a guy was telling me to make sure it's loop timing not external timing unless you have that. but he's just speaking probably about a Nortel i don't know how to even come close to verifying that i imagine it would be under ISDN pri and making sure the one setting for master and slave is set to slave.

Oobie was saying it only seems to happen when I or a person is calling here long distance to our 800# but when I call locally to here to a 800# then it goes away. May be a LD carrier issue well what else if I check everything else Telco companies I love them first people I ask then the point me else where every time. Also tried removing secondary clock didn't help.

I had a problem today with fax's over a PRI (poor line quality) found out it was only on LD faxs, turned out to be the LD carrier.

and i had them monitor for 24hours they say "everything looks good" they always do.
To make it even better I thought it was LD but it seems to be fine with intrastate number's then I shall test an interstate number and assuming I know what I'm saying I should get the crackling.

What I mean by "frogging" is this...if the cards are in s201 and s203, flip the cards around. Take the card in s201 and move to s203 then put the card that was in s203 and put in s201. If the problem follows the card, you have a bad card. If the problem stays in the slot, you either have a troubled slot or the clocking or circuit is in trouble.

Swap tronics
Least I hear that's what they call it for air plane's
Ok will do it's got to be a clock problem, better than these other horror stories I've seen on these forums. So checklist that I have done moved it to a different cabinet issued followed, used a different card issue stayed, will try time and I supposed just reset the PRI not the whole CIX.
