System: DK280 Location: My Home
Situation: Previously had two incoming telephone numbers. Everything worked just fine. I have gone back to only one telephone number which rings on Button LED 03 of each telephone set. Button LED 02 which has been handling Line 1 is now dead (no dial tone) since I had the telephone company disconnect that line.
I have the programming book and know how to enter the command sequence. Usually I only reset the time and date. I have used Program 39 to give preference to some sets to use Line 1 and others to use Line 2 successfully in the past.
Today after using Program 39 to set the preference to Line 2 for all telephone sets I ended up with all telephone sets in the system answering the ringing line by either hitting the Speaker Button or by picking up the Handset which is fine because that’s just the way I want it. But when trying to make a telephone call, all telephone sets (save set 005, explain further down) pickup Line 1 (Button LED 02 on each telephone set) which has no dial tone. To get to Line 2 I have to hit Line 2. I would like all of the telephone sets to just default to Line 2 without the second step of hitting the Line 2 LED button.
So I started looking through the Programming Manual to see if I could figure out how to make all of the telephones pickup Line 2 when attempting to MAKE a call instead of the now dead Line 1. That’s how I got into trouble.
I started messing around with Program 40 thinking that was the way to fix the situation. I experimented with Program 40 (addressing only Port 005) and have ended up screwing that station up even worse than the other telephone sets. Now when the telephone set that uses Port 005 has the Handset lifted or the Speaker Button hit, nothing happens. No LED (Line 1 or Line 2) light up. To get a dial tone I have to hit the Line 2 Button. It then allows me to make a call. In other words Set 005 now does not default to Line 1 but it doesn’t default to Line 2 either. So you might say I’m about half way home with the telephone set that uses Port 005. (joking).
So, I have two problems.
1. How to make all of the telephone sets in the system default to picking up Line 2 (Led Button 03) when attempting to make a call.
2. How to get the telephone set at station 005 back to working the way it should.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Program 32 is ringing preference and off hook preference. How to solve this all depends on how program 32 is setup, if it is set for 111 for all phones, remove line 1 from line group 01 in program 16

First off, I must apologize for an error in my original post. I was so worried with the spelling and the way the sentences sounded, I didn't pay close enough attention to the specific details. Please replace all references to Program 39 to read Program 32.
All phones are currently set to "111".
I ran Program 16 but I'm not sure if I did that correctly. I may have. When I was at the place in the manual that has digit highlighted (Buttons/LEDs) I made Led 03 (Line 2) the only LED that lit up. After exiting, I did seem to notice that there no longer was a hum on Line 1. So I may have succeeded in turning that line completely off.
The pickup to place a call problem still persists. When I attempt to make a call (either by handset or speaker phone) nothing lights up. I have to manually hit the Line 2 LED button.
This particular situation started after I screwed around with Program 40 - Station CO Line Access. At least it seemed to be when the problem really got bad.
UPDATE!
PROBLEM FIXED!
I started fiddling around with Program 32 and finally found the correct setting. "102" for the lowest CO ...
Since Program 16 eliminated the no longer subscribed Line 1 (Thank you very much), the lowest CO set in Program 32 does the job.
I really appreciate you guys. :toast:
Thank you ever so much.

LED 3 is not line 2 (When programing), LED 1 is line 1, LED 2 is line 2 and so on.

Steve,
When I said LED 03 was the location of Line 2 on all of my telephone sets, I was referring to the LED Location on each telephone set as programmed by the original installer. The original system installer placed INTERCOM in the LED 01 spot, Line 1 in the LED 02 spot, Line 2 in the LED 03 spot, and so on.
Does that make sense?

I understand that but when doing any line programing LED 1= line 1 / LED 2= Line 2 / LED 3= Line 3 and so on. No matter where your lines are positioned

Even though I am now "good to go", would you please give me an example of when I would need to use the "line programming LED=Line 1" etc.
Which Program XX, for instance.
