Installing a new CIX100 for a customer over the past few days and I'm running into an issue.
They're got a fax modem connected to their server that they use to send desktop faxes from their PC's.
I have the modem connected to an RSTU unit in the cabinet, but it seems like the SLT port doesn't receive the digits at the right speed in order to make the call.
The modem is set to dial 9(pause), then the number that is being dialed. But when the modem dials it won't connect to the fax on the other end.
I hooked my buttset up to the same port and tried dialing out on my own. It seems like you almost need to dial 9(pause)(first digit of phone number)(pause)then the rest of the digits in order for it to actually start ringing the phone number.
I checked the logs on their fax server and only one call has been successfully dialed over the past few days, out of about 50.
Is there anyway I can set this SLT port to speed up how fast it reads the dial string? Their old phone system was all analog so it wasn't an issue before, but I can't seem to make this port work properly to dial out, unless i do it manually via butt set and listening until i hear the CIX100 click over to whatever available line it grabs before i can continue dialing a number.
Does anyone have any suggestions??

The CIX by default uses LCR. Do you have the dial 9 use LCR or direct access to an OLG? Also, do you have to dial a 9 after accessing a trunk like on some Centrex lines?

No, they aren't centrex lines, they are local link, but i don't even think the Fax line (line 4) is part of the local link. It's just and extra line for them to dial out on.
The only 9 i need to dial is to get an open phone line. I've got it taken out of the main ILG group.
I did try to have it's off hook status to that specific fax trunk, but it still wouldn't dial out correctly or on time.
My temp fix for now was to remove the 9 and the pause from the dial string and just have it dial straight out on the line, and now have the fax modem connected to the fax line outside of the CIX100. But I would like to be able to get this SLT port working correctly for me.

Using LCR usually takes care of the problem. Are you using LCR?

I've got some slow access to outside lines so what my speed dials are set up for is:
9 * 2 9 * 2 1 then the number to dial is put in.
9 asks for an outside line * 2 gives you about a 1 second delay 9 asks for a centrex line * 2 gives you about a 1 second delay for Centrex to be ready to dial Then 1 plus the number is dialed.
The * 2 gives a one second pause which is what you may need.
I never use any LCR so I wouldn't know about phonemeisters plan but he is pretty sharp on Toshiba.

have you changed the interdigit timers on the SLT extension? check them against another extn to make sure they are correct, from memory they are 15 and 5 or 5 and 15?

Well I don't know exactly what I did to fix this, but it's working fine now. I was playing around with some settings the last time I was on site, and something I changed in the trunk settings seems to have fixed it. I can dial out just fine now and it reads all the digits and i get can hear ringing when dialing from my butt set plugged right into the SLT port.
Weird for sure, but thanks for everyone's suggestions.
