Here is a head banger for you :bang: Customer has 3 lines in a hunt group If a call from a cell phone hits line 2 in hunt group the call is disconnected or strange tones and clicks are heard but it doesn't ring into system. If the call is from a land line it works ok, if the cell call comes in on line 1 or 3 it works ok. If you dial the line 2 number instead of main hunt group number then it works ok I swapped lines on the system and problem stayed with the same pair on a different port and you all know that I get the standard replay. ![[Linked Image from megalink.net]](https://www.megalink.net/~turnertech/MBSWWYPBX.php.gif)

Does line two have a different NNX than line one and three?

This could be a problem with a Pair Gain device.
Perhaps looking at the loop current could give a clue.
Good Luck with the Dial Tone Provider.

Did they recently port from one LEC to another?

Good Luck with the Dial Tone Provider. Not likely, he said it only happens when calling from a cell phone. Did they recently port from one LEC to another? Incumbent LEC is Verizon (now Fairpoint) using an existing 5ESS

The cellular provider is probably sending calls to the Central Office via tandem trunks out of Fairpoint's tandem switch in Portland Maine.
Might there be a bad carrier between the tandem and central office or maybe between the cellular provider's switch and the Portland Maine tandem?
The only other difference I can think of between a call that originates from a cellular telephone and a land line is the class of service (Info Digits), but I doubt that they figure into the problem.

If it's only 1 cell carrier, then you only have to fight one cell company! But, it really sounds like the typical problems seen when numbers are ported from on lec to another. If they did just port recently, (and that could be over a year and they just discovered the problem) then you get to convince the lec to 'rebroadcast' the numbers. Man, am I glad I'm outa the business. The unbundling, although feeding me and mine for 30 years, has been a continuing headache for the entire 30 years. John C.

Merritt, by any chance is line 2 going through a fax switch? I ask because I know of at least 1 client that I have and when I call them while on the road (cell call), it'll almost always go to the fax instead of the phone system. B/4 KLD or anyone makes a crack, it's not because of the BIX or the Nortel equipment...

I have seen this same scenario once and was cleared after 3 weeks of calls and 2 vendor meets. The tech had to move ALL circuits in a shelf at the step office that the line was served out of. It took 6 hours that last day to clear after proving the problem... We did prove it to always be on one cellular provider (the one I use) but intermittent problems would even happen on LEC's circuits. Good luck!
