We recently had someone use the company phone to dial an international number and was on call for 5 hours!

ATT was gracious enough to provide us the number dialed but the originating number they gave us is our POTS main line.

Is it possible to trace it back to the extension that originated the outbound call?

Just talked to my phone vendor and they stated that we should already have SMDR installed. We are currently using a CTX 670

A brief look at my CTX and I do see SMDR (512-513-514)

Since I am able to connect to my CTX 670 via IP, I assumed that I can configured the SMDR to record calls.

You need to configure Prog. 801 and 803 to spit out the SMDR Data via the IP port.

okay. I setup 803

00 Logical Device No: 100 SMDR
01 Device Connection: Lan
Port Index No. = 1

I get error CTX Error: (0x315902)0,0,49,803,2

and cannot set the Device Location to Lan. It currently says None.

On my 801 it is setup:
00 Lan Port Index No = 1
01 Protocol: TCP
02 Application Type: Client
03 Data Flow: Asynchronization
04 Server Port No.: 0
05 Client IP:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (privacy for IP)
06 client Port No: 5000
07 Read Retry No.: 1
08 Write Retry No: 1
09 CallerName Set to CSTA: No

1st, port index 1 appears to be used at the moment, so you can't use that one.
2nd, you need a newer processor to do SMDR over IP, with version 4.X or higher. If your software on the CIX is 3.XX or lower, you can not do it.\
And last, setting up SMDR will only give you a report of calls from after you set it up. If you did not have reporting already setup, then you wont be able to pull a report from earlier.

System type: CIX670: B--U/BEX-
Active Software: AR4.20 MP026.00
Standby Software: ARP.D BX-

So I should be able to use SMDR over LAN.

Thanks for the information about port index 1. Looks like that is being used by my voicemail system.

I setup port index 2 for the SMDR.

One question I have is how would I setup my dhcp server to provide a reserved ip address for the system?

CIX Processor has been given an IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.35 also has MAC address

VM has been given an IP address of
xxx.xxx.xxx.36 also has MAC address

SMDR has been given an address of
xxx.xxx.xxx.37 Where can I get the MAC address for this?

Your vendor can get that set up for you correctly and may also provide you with a call accounting software to make sense of the raw SMDR. Advanced system programming like what you're asking is beyond the scope of what we can give out to end-users. If anyone here wants to help the OP out, please take the discussion offline via PM or email.
