Can the IVP8 have a call transfer directly into a mailbox that has an ext. assigned to it using one of the menu options in the AA.

So that it will take a message instead of dialng the extesnion? Besides having the mailbox in DND, I don't know of a way.
In the case of a recesption, I would put their mailbox in DND, then use another extension, like 0, to ring their phone. I can even put a schedule so that in the day, option 0 will ring the phone because I have 200H in the extension field. At night I change the field to @G(200). Calls going directly to 200 will get the greeting because 200 has DND on.
Other then getting real creative with token programing, I don't know of a way to do that from an auto attendant.
Not sure if this is where you were headed or not.

Should be able to use the 998 code but would need a way of entering the user mbx number?
Or create a mbx in DND that has the dialcode to be 998 and the extension number.
