Where are you at in California, if near LA I could come over and load DK ADMIN in your laptop and give you a hand. The old DKs were not that hard.

I would highly suggest getting a local Toshiba technician to come give you a tour of the system and do the ringing program you are requesting of the DK. Its completely different than the CIX/CTX line of systems and you would be better served to have a guided "walk through" or 101 on the basics of programming and changes.

Its also always a good idea to create a rapport with your local tech, since they have the parts and knowledge for these older systems in the case you have an emergency.

Ok, I feel like I am making progress with all your help. My guess is that this system is somehow placed on either a night ring or maybe it was configured for the receptionist's phone to be the only one that rings, and the other, the lights just flash when a call comes in.

I found out that my Ext 205 is the programming port (I assume it's 005). What I would like to do is just use the DKT2020-SD to make my changes. Just to get this ringing issue done and I can breathe more that way before making more significant changes.

Here are the current questions, is there a way to read the current configuration from the DKT2020 so that I can see what the ringing (group?)is set for to be sure?

I know that Program 81 = day, 82= day2 and 87=night rings, so if I was going to set a day ring mode, I would do the following...

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
(I think this part I am supposed to put which line I want to assign for this ring feature, I have 5 lines, so I assume that I need to put 001, then go through the motion to finish and then do it again for 002..., right??)
#
(Station Logical Port #?, This part is confusing, how do I know which port is which line?)
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Programming sequences are installer information and should not be posted in the public forum per board rules.

Thanks

Blonde Bunny,
I live in South OC, but I can bring my laptop over to you if that works for you?

MacOSX,
You are probably right, but I am also one that needs to get my hands dirty to fully understand how the system works. I think that if someone does it for me, then it still remains a mystery for me. My problem is that I am not smart enough not to test the temperature of the kettle without putting a finger on it. LOL

Carlos,

I wish I would have read what you wrote, but I started writing my response above before you posted, just didn't finish it at work and didn't see your post until now. I really appreciate it

What can I do with the RS232 interface with remote modem? Because as of now, I don't have any wires connected to the RJ11 port, can I plug an analog line into it and be able to dial into it? If so, where would I get the commands for it?

The serial connection is for a direct connection to the system. You would need a special 6 wire to a DB9 connector. You still also need the DKadmin software before you can do any programing. A manual would be a plus.

If you wanted to dialup, you would call into one of youe lines and transfer to to onboard modem, but that would be a lot slower then a direct conenct. If you can get someone to get the software for you, then hoefully they can get the cables and adaptor for you as well.

FYI, your post will probabaly be edited by a moderator, as passcodes are not allowed. Just a couple things; on program 81 you would enter the station port you want to ring, not the line port. Find the station port by using #402 on a phone (so you can find port 005 as well).

Als the program is 81, not *81, so you would use SPKR 81 hold.

Well good golly, I was in Fullerton and Yorba Linda (Orange County) on Thursday and Friday doing Time Warner cutovers from my arch nemisis cbeyond and of course Time Warner sent their tech to Disneyland for a repair FIRST and Disneyland couldn't find the right key for an hour and a half so the good doctor paid three hours of waiting time because the people who subed me there said to charge him. I could have taught you everything you needed to know in those three hours of sitting on my butt.

PM me with your phone number, I just walked a pain in the tuckus rabbi through changing ringing on two phones this morning over the phone and as technology challenged as he is the deed was done in less than five minutes.

And, I had him go to both phones and do Intercom # 402 so we knew for sure which port number we were programming. The DK series is child's play compared to a CIX.

You would only bother with the admin software if you were doing a lot of intensive programming and I seriously doubt if you fit that category but then maybe you just like to be a computer geek and that is an OK thing to be, look at where it got Steve Jobs.

The only time I *ever* used the DKadmin program is when I program via modem.

Key programming is so much faster (presuming you've programmed 50 or more systems...)
