Howdy!
I've been hired by a school district as a Network Administrator. They have a fair good sized Strata system deployed .. six BWDKU1's, an RCOU3 with a trunkport to a Bogen for all four floors, etc.
I've been able to get Network eManager installed and connected to the Strata on a stand alone Windows XP box. Additionally, I was able to get the Stratagy ES Administrator software installed but the account information is unknown. As are most of the individual extension voicemail passwords. The receptionist box is approaching 1k voicemails.
ummmm .. what else ... I was able to connect to the iES16 via Netmeeting without any problems, but couldn't find anything useful. There is a com port on the iES16 card, but again, I couldn't find a pinout for making a serial cable or much less what to do if I had the cable.
Any bones you can throw my way would be very helpful!! School is starting soon and I would like to be able to cross this system off my list.
TIA

The serial cable won't help you at all. There are always ways to reset a passcode. Toshiba offers a password reset service through a dealer. All there support is through an authorized dealer. Since the Windows password is still at default, there would be a way to reset the admin passcode.

Thanks for the info on the serial cable!
There is a shared folder on the Strata box in the root of C: that is called DSDBackup and it is shared. There are two folders in it named:
04OCT2005 23AUG2005
Inside of them are lots of .vox files nested per extenstion and a TAIS.reg file. I've opened the TAIS.reg file with notepad++ but couldn't really see anything obvious. Next I moved onto the .tbl files in the database directory and, again, did not find anything obvious.
Am I looking in the right area?
Thanks!
John

DSDBackup is a folder that store backups. It would appear that 2005 is the last time someone backed up the viocemail. I doubt it would do any good now being that it is a very old backup and when the hard drive fails, you would not be able to get to the backup anyway.
The passcode is stored encrypted. I don't know if anyone will help you hack the database on the forums. It is against the policy of the forum to post passcodes or methodes to bypass passcodes.

Welcome to the board. Please take some time to go over the board rules in the General section. As a rule of thumb, passwords or how to bypass them are not to be discussed in an open forum. The password is encrypted like Newtecky pointed out and the safest route to recovery is through Toshiba which I'm sure any tech here would recommend that you do.

Sometimes you just have to pay a Toshiba dealer to buy a token to have Toshiba modem into the voicemail and reset the password.
I truly believe this is one of those times where you just have to pony up the money, Toshiba is very protective of this process.
On older Amandas, you could look into files and find the lost password, but the ies16 is not the same case.
It is not HUGE money, just money.
