Isn't there a key that can be programed to mute the handset on a CTX/CIX ?

There is no mute button for the handset except for a DP5000 phone where the MIC button could be used. I think you have to be on R4 or higher though.

As phonemeister said, then mic light only works with the DP5000 series phones with a new processor.
I would have to double check the version that supports DP5000 series phones but it would be at least V4.00 or higher. With the older running processor 3.10 and lower, the DP5000 series phones work like a DKT3000 series.
Most wireless headsets have a mute. That would be your only other option.
