I have a customer that has an XTS with a 23 channel PRI (with 2-way DID’s). They have 10 – 800 numbers that point to one of the DID’s on the T-1. The DID number then routes to and ACD group. The 800 numbers are provided by AT&T.
The 800 numbers are published in advertisements in various media and the customer would like to track the response for each number. I told the customer I could have the name of the 800 number display on the phone.
I figure I have two ways of doing this…
1) The easy way….I could simply point each 800 number at it’s own individual DID number. This could be a drag when they get more 800 numbers and I have to keep buying DID’s. 2) The other option would be to have AT&T send DNIS digits. This is ultimately my question…HOW DOES THIS WORK?? Do I ask AT&T to route the 800 numbers to my T-1 circuit number…and send 4 DNIS digit with it??
Any help would be appreciated.

You are right on point 1. Whatever DID you are using can be id'd. In Flash 44, #3 you can input a name or number provided it's no more than 8 characters. When the call gets picked up by the agaent, their display shows what the named DID is.
If you recieve DNIS, you can get at least 7 digits into the XTS. It may even be 10 digits depending on what the CO sends. Whatever is sent, you need to define how many digits you are recieving.
In the routing table F44, enter the DNIS digits you are recieving and the F43 routing number. In F43 you define the ext/group you want to send it to.
Basically, DNIS digits use the DID tables for routing. You don't have to have a DNIS pointed to a DID phone number. Just define DNIS to point to a F43 3 digit entry.
Does this make sense?

Thanks. I think I will just have AT&T point to my individual DID numbers. Sounds like it is the cleanest way to go.
