Is the DHS still in production? I recently had to buy a nondisplay phone (for the one and only DHS system I have ever seen) and it seemed really expensive.

I don't believe the DHS is being sold or supported by Vodavi anymore. The Starplus non display phones (SP7311 or SP7312) are the least expensive sets. Call Sundance (click on EQUIPMENT link) for a price check. Even some of the old Vodavi 616 phones have held their prices. It's all supply & demand on the secondary market.

Vodavi does provide technical support for the DHS. The phones are also still in production. Call your local authorized Vodavi dealer and they sould be able to aquire new phones for you.
