Just got an analog 1224 and want to verify that it is in working order, but I am waiting on my starplus sets to come in. I know I won't be able to actually use a single line phone w/o an adaptor, but I should be able to connect a single line phone to verify I get intercom dialtone, w/o doing any damage, correct?

You will not be able to verify anything with a SLT.
