Still waiting for my manuals to come...
how can I replace a station (104) that currently has a 12 button phone to a 24 button phone.
My environment is DVX Mach 1 with Infinite phones.
If I do 636xxx i can move a 24 to a 24 station but i cant move a 12 to a 24 station.
stumped.
also, how do i get into the program mode? ** then what I think is the password? Very little documentation here.
Thanks in Advance.

If the station lock feature isn't turned on in your system's programming, then 636 can be used. The only drawback is that the 24 button set will come up with the factory-default button map. In most cases, this is fine since all buttons except the lines, loop and pool can be user-programmed right at the phone.
To change the button programming, just press speed two times, press the feature button you want to change, then dial the three digit code or extension you want to appear on that button. Once you have changed all of the buttons that you want to, press on/off to end user programming.

Ed,
Thanks for your reply. I think station lock must be enabled, because I cannot get anything but the software version to light up on our new 24 button phones when I plug it into a jack that currently has a 12 button phone.
If I plug in our new 24 button phone to a station that currently has a 24 button phone, it works perfectly. i am eager for my manuals to show up.

I figured that was the case. Your system's installer must have been concerned about this because plugging in a dissimilar phone model wipes out any custom button programming that may exist. We lock all of our systems for this very reason. It makes us look bad when someone swaps phones, then denies having done that, and yet the phones' programming keeps "mysteriously" getting wiped out.
I can't help you with the system's programming password because it's against the rules in this forum, plus if your installer enabled station lock, it's likely that they also changed the password. It would take forever to go through all 10,000 possible 4-digit passwords, but you are on the right track with beginning the programming procedure.

Ed, again thanks for your reply.
If I am understanding you correctly, if station lock was disabled on our system, plugging in the new 24 button where a 12 button was, would erase any programmable buttons on all phones we have?
If that is the case I don't think it will be too bad, since the 24 buttons that have been programmed are only "hotkeys" to the outside lines and to a few other offices.
I had a feeling I am going to have to contact our installer to get the password, once my manuals arrive.
thanks for your help!

Yes, if a dissimilar phone model is plugged in and the station lock feature is disabled, the phone's buttons will default to the factory pattern.
On a 24 button set, the top 12 buttons become DSS/BLF for stations 100-111, then lines 1-6 appear on buttons 13-18, Loop appears on button 19 and Pool appears on button 20. Buttons 21-24 come up with standard features that can be changed.
Under this scenario, buttons 1-12 and 21-24 are user-programmable using the procedure I mentioned earlier in this thread.

manuals have arrived! they are scanned in, in PDF format on a CD. i was hoping they'd be in searchable form, but they are not. this could take a few months. ![[Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]](https://www.sundance-communications.com/forum/wink.gif)

Well I've got the manuals, but there isn't a Flash 06 area in the manual to disable the station lock. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, or it's called something different?

You probably have an old version of the manual.
Flash 06, button #8. Then enter 0 to turn it off or 1 to turn it on, plus hold. I would recommend that you keep this feature turned on all the time to prevent people from swapping dissimilar phones around and messing up your button programming. Just unlock it when you need to.

Ed,
you posted back before i could, thanks! I tried it anyway, and it worked! I now have replaced one of the 12 button phones with the 24. and the default buttons are good, minus, not having a VM button, but i can maybe program that later to one of the flex buttons.
i have a new 'issue' which i'll create a new posting for.
thanks for all your help, Ed!
