I have try 3 phones with the same result work on mine not theirs. checked the wiring and reconnected it and the 66 block change the data pair same problem their phone comes up but no co dial tone mine nothing. change the tip and ring pair both phones do the same they come up but you get a awful sound out of the handsets. open up their phone and mine and their guts says its a rev. m and all three of mine ar k or lower. is there a certain rev. that you have to have to get a sp6161244 to work with a starplus 616 flex system.

I've worked on many a Vodavi Analog and cannot ever remember having to use a certain revision phone. However, I'm not sure we ever sold any 616EX.

what would cause a sp6161244 to work with a 616 ex but not a 616 flex

I can't think of anything right now. I have not run into that. If I were you, I'd go to equipment room and tap directly onto the 66 block to see if the extension comes up there. Take the present jack and all the wiring out of the equation. Also---make sure that amp connector is tight. What station is giving you trouble?? Try the station above and below the one that you're trying to replace. It sounds like the port---not the phone. Does the phone work anywhere on the Flex system--on any port?? Good luck. Let us know what you find out.

I have never heard of anything like this. Does the original phone with the sticky buttons still work on that port?
There is a component level problem that we are begining to see on the 616xx phones. One phone will start to go bad and cause all kinds of flukey problems system wide, but this does not sound like the issue here.
I would have to agree JW, sounds like a bad port/wiring/jack.
