We currently have the SPD 2856 and thinking of upgrading.

We have 35 stations. 4 outside sales reps. We may open a small branch office with 2 or 3 people. Plus we hope to grow...

I guess my question is..whats the main differences between the two?

If you are planning on growing your business, definately go with the XTS. The STS will only support up to 48 phones. Especially with 35 phones now, some outside reps, and the possibility of a remote office in the future, you should be looking at the XTS as your solution.

Yes, definately the XTS.

Yes def. XTS then you you will have the ability to network your remote site with VOIP and even give your remote saleman some remote IP phones. Just a suggestion. But as DW said if you have plans to grow you don't want to be stuck with only several digital ports left.

Although we sell the XTS, I have to speak from an end-user's perspective to better answer your question.

We use an XTS in our office connected to an ISDN-PRI. In addition, we have eight IP phones working at remote offices (employees' homes). You just can't beat the flexibility and reliability of this setup. The IP phones have enabled us to change our work week to four days, saving greatly on gasoline consumption. Although the IP phones are only a small part of the picture, they have helped us tremendously.

The STS is relatively small, but it has a very similar feature set to the XTS. The largest difference is the physical capacity; other than that, the only thing lost in going with it is the IP capability. On that note, you should probably stick with the XTS.
