Hi,
We have 3 Centrex lines currently on our Vodavi Starplus STS phone system. When we would like to make a call we have to dial 99 and then the number (one 9 gets us to a CO line in the system, the other nine is required by Centrex before dialing the number). Is there any way we can eliminate this second 9 so we just have to dial 9 + the number? If so how do we do it?
We just switched to these Centrex lines, how can I be sure if someone just dials 911 there call will go thru? Thanks.

Yes, you can activate the system's LCR feature and set up the insert/delete tables to insert the 9 plus a pause. Not all central offices require the pause, but it's worth it, just in case to avoid phantom outward dialing problems. Refer to "flash 75" for programming and then "flash 05" to turn LCR on.
It's a lot easier to use WinDBA to copy all area codes and exchanges for the same LCR treatment if you have it at your disposal. Once you have all of them set to follow the same route and insert/delete table, then you will be all set.

you can also use the PBX dial codes in Flash 12 and set your trunks in flash 40 to pbx i've used this works great.

Oobie:
Doesn't the PBX dial code feature just address things like toll restriction? What I mean is doesn't it just tell the system to ignore the extra 9 when applying toll restriction rules? I don't think that it will actually insert the extra 9 that is being requested. I only know of LCR for adding or deleting dialed digits. Please correct me if I am wrong.

no i've used this on a system that i have a PRI on and then we have 2 copper trunks that are centrex and i have the pbx dial code set in there. LCR is activated. so say my PRI goes down or i dial 911(copper trunks always) it automatically through LCR will select my copper trunks and insert that nine in there from the PBX dial code. I worked on this with vodavi because with out in there it was causing me issues.

Oobie........You been sleepin?
You didn't mention that you had a mix of trunk types. That makes a huge difference.
Now what you said makes more sense. It still sounds like you had LCR working; PBX codes were just was used to override digit insert/delete tables. Am I correct here?
My bad.

With the centrex "assuming the 9" you would have no programming to do on your pbx .

yeah ed your correct. No i haven't been sleepin just really busy and by the time i get done for the day i don't feel like lookin at a computer.
OBTW up in Central PA there is a LEC that provides those type of lines and they refer to them as Custo-Pack Lines. You don't have to dial the 9 but you can still hook flash the line and transfer out. They've worked nice for me in some applications.
