Just curious to see if anyone else has had to replace any Hard Drive In-Skin Voicemail cards due to Hard Drive failure or other problems? I am doing my 3rd one and think it's a little odd (or a high number would be a better way to put it.)

They have all failed due to a bad hard drive, 8-10 months following the installation. Vodavi has replaced them all with new units, at no cost (through Aztec) so far.

CHRIS:

Were they installed in STS or XTS ?

Were the HD on the same system or at three (3) different locations?

I had one go goofy and had to do some tweaks in the "XP Embedded" system itself.

HD wouldn't answer at all.

Forgot now exactly what I did, but there is a thread here about it.

OK so my theory is that heat killed those VM's. So I had to come up with a way to cool down that cabinet so I did a little "handy" work on the cabinet cover. With a little help from Home Depot, Radio Shack and my trusty Porter Cable drill I installed a nice 120v fan on the outside of the front cover and "oh boy" does that thing move some air. I will be happy to email pics to anyone who would like to see how it came out.

I don't remember what the hard drive makes were. Digitalk (sp?) who makes the VMs, I know, uses the cheapest posibile parts so if IBM had a deal then that is what was used but I can not say for sure.
