I'm at a church and the offices have been remodeled years ago. Want to change CO line ring stations, but don't know where station 10 for programming is. When I pick up another station and push flex button for station 10, it's dead.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to connect directly to Starplus Flex 616 box to change programming?

Downloaded the manual from this site today which is great. Just need to know how I can enter into system to program since it's possible wiring for station 10 is walled up somewhere.

You'll have to tap directly onto the 66 block. Actually, you may find a jack next to the KSU. Some techs use to leave the programming station terminated in the phone closet.

Good luck and welcome to the board!

Try dialing on the keypad for intercom 10--don't use the flex keys---they may not be programmed the way you think.

If you don't have an extension 10 in your offices---then for sure the only way is to access it from the 66m block. Does the block have jumpers on it? --at the station 10 pins.??

I'm not a phone man per trade. What is the 66 block? and is this something a savvy, but non phone technician person can do fairly easily? (Any page cross reference in Vodavi Installation and Maintenance manual?)
I've only done simple phone wiring, phone feature programming and computer programming and can generally figure out mechanical things, but don't know what to look for for 66 block. Is this a numbered location within KSU?
We've got the phones with the thick cable and around 5" connectors with multi contacts at each extension(not typical 4 line phone connectors). Will this plug in somewhere or do I have to manually wire something in?

The 66 block is the wire connection block usually next to the KSU.

You may want to contact a vendor.

Good luck!

Chris:

About as far as we can go is to direct you in the right direction. The 66 block is the white block that has the "thick" cable connected on it. You will likely see various two-pair jumper wires leaving this block going to other blocks. Disconnect anything connected to the white/blue and white/orange pairs of the thick cable and connect them to a standard 4-conductor jack right there at the KSU. Upon plugging a standard display phone into this jack, the information from the manual should be sufficient. If your connections are proper to the jack, the phone should come up with ***100*** on the top line of the display. If you get ***101***, simply reverse the order of the white/orange pair conductors on the jack itself.

I know that you are in a pinch, and trying to do what is right, but without some level of telephone system experience, it's going to be difficult for us to assist much more. We will try, but please understand that this forum is really intended to support end users with operational questions. Getting into this level might be doing more harm than good. We may be able to set you up with a local Vodavi dealer who can probably assist at their minimum charge.

Johnny Reb gave me a terrific solution that didn't need any special tools or technical savvy (though I now know what a block 66 is).

Our system has extensions 10-25 wired, so by swapping J1 and J2 cables temporarily from the KSU, ext 18 became ext 10, ready for programming. Found ext 18, programmed and swapped cables back and we are up and running without knocking out any walls or having to rewire block 66.

Thanks to everyone for their prompt and courteous suggestions. This problem is closed. clap

I just bought a 616 Flex with 7 enhanced phones. I found that station 10 was on port 02 and port 01 was station 11 on the 66 block. I finally got all 7 phones working ( all ports 01-08 were reversed on the 66 blk ports 01 & 02 sta. 11, 10,ports 03 & 04 sta. 13,12 and so on on the J1 connector. also found a data pair either reversed on the 66 block or KSU (I expect the 66 block. Ok with all phones working BLF lights so the correct station. all CO line buttons light. I tried to reverse the port and stations, but could not. I INITIALIZE the programing sta 10 press the on/off dialed ('PASSWORD') then dialed ('PASSWORD') and then pressed the HOLD key. The way I read the manual that should have initiated the program. NOTHING changed. The CO lines all light on the phones but can only get DT on stations 12 and 13 on all 6 lines, but nothing on any other phones. I have powered the KSU down, removed the battery and program module left them out all night, replace them the next day and powered it up still the same. All I can figure that I have a defective PROGRAMING MODULE and I found it to cost about ('PRICE') to get it up dated or ('PRICE') for a refurbished one. ANYONE have any suggestions before I try that?????? THANKS JDK

It is imperative that the white/blue goes to the green wire of the station jack, the blue/white goes to the red of the station jack, the white/orange goes to black and the orange/white goes to yellow. This is to be repeated for each subsequent station starting with white/green to green, green/white to red, and so on. If proper polarity is not maintained, the paired stations will either be swapped or one of them will not function at all.

Double-check your wiring on the first four station port pairs coming out of the system's KSU. Be especially careful if you are using factory-terminated blocks since they often have reversed polarity. 95% of these problems are attributed to reversal of the data pairs for the first two station ports. Hope this helps.

welcome
