HELP PLEASE! We have a Vodavi PathFinder Digital System. When you call the office you get the main menu, the callers have an option to press 3 for the Tech department. The tech department has a secretary, we would like when the caller presses 3 for the tech department for it to ring her phone first. If she doesn't answer we would like it to forward to menu 108. How can we do this (we would still like her to have her own mailbox for lets say when someone gets transfered to her extension or when someone dials her extension 118 directly. How do we do this? We are ready to try anything at this point.

Seriously,
"We are ready to try anything at this point."
How about calling a certified Vodavi Technician. You need a real tech here. These are not user programmable systems; especially the pathfinder. Pay for something to be done right the first time and save yourself a headache.

This can be done using hunt groups (or a couple of other ways), but the programming is more involved than what is normally given over the board.

As Steve mentioned, you really should call a local tech. If the your tech cannot do it, I suggest you find another one: https://www.vodavi.com/dealerLocatorResults.asp?pageId=44&parentId=15&zipcode=02019

Another option would be to have a tech dial into your system, if everything is equipped with modems.

You may try contacting Ed, one of the other Vodavi moderators. He could probably handle everything remotely for you or at least walk you through it. Keep in mind that this is what we do for a living and Ed (or TeleSystems) will have to charge you.

Good luck!

you may be able to use supervised transfer from the pathfinder by using a fake mailbox from your original menu. then put the remainder of the stations in a hunt group. it shouldn't be too difficult to set. if you would like e-mail me and i will see if i can help. i have been installing vodavi for seven years now and nothing upsets me more than not finding a solution...

We run into this application all the time. Here's about the most I can offer, but you really need to know what you are doing:

Set up the VMID for the sectetary's extension in the phone system to be something out of range, like 199. Make sure that the station is set for no answer forwarding to voice mail.

Create mailbox 199 in the Pathfinder that is set to forward to menu 108 under extension AND mailbox settings.

Create/modify menu 108 with the desired single-digit options. Make sure that if someone wants to leave a message for the secretary that you include a menu option to transfer to her original mailbox (118).

You will then need to set up a remote VM button on her phone for her mailbox number (Speed twice, the button you want to use, then 460 + 118).

If you get all of this to work correctly, calls to 118 will ring and if not answered, they will go to mailbox 199. Since mailbox 199 is forwarded to menu 108, the caller will hear the greeting for that menu. They can then dial the desired menu option, or they can dial the option to leave a message for the secretary and it will be deposited immediately into mailbox 118.

the last post is a sound idea, but it causes more customer involvement for it to work as designed. if you use a mailbox for routing from the menu as described, the operator will not need a second mailbox button or a menu selection for her personnal mailbox. it is more seamless and easier for the customer. where i come from we try to keep the selections to a minimum sue to the fact that some of our callers have a very short attention span..
